Dry Corrosion Test Chambers: DCTC™

The process of corrosion is due to a chemical/electrochemical reaction, of an exposed surface with the surrounding environment, that leads gradually to the material degradation. This phenomenon is usually referred to the decay of metals but almost all materials are subject to degradation and the level of pollution can nowadays accelerate this process.

Corrosion can damage buildings, machines or public utilities and can become very costly to repair. So, it’s better to act in advance and know which could be your product performance when exposed to corrosive agents by testing it with ACS Corrosion Test Chamber in order to take any proper action in case of unexpected results.

DCTC™ Models

DCTC™ chambers can perform tests in compliance with the main international standards and norms. VDA, SAE J2334, and Kesternich tests are available as standardized options.

*The footprint of the 600 and 1200 l models has been reduced to a minimum thanks to a basic configuration that does not include the salt solution tank.

Find out more about the construction design of DCTC™ chambers
1. External Construction:

• Fiberglass (600-1200 l)
• Stainless steel (2300 l)
• External panels are completely removable for easy maintenance

New Design: Compact chambers with reduced foot print (600 e 1200l).

2. Internal Construction:

Easy access to the chamber: wherever placed

Test compartment: is molded from a single piece of fiberglass to ensure long-life and a perfect seal.

Materials: The materials used are totally corrosion-proof. Panels are removable for easy maintenance.

Rounded corners of internal testing space: Allow better condensate drainage and easy internal cleaning.
Electrical heating system insulated with self-extinguishing glass wool.
1. Hood:

• Completely transparent PVC hood
• Reversed V-form to allow a better inspection of the test environment and an easier flowing of condensation drops to prevent them from falling onto the specimens being tested.

2. Hood movement system:

• Servo-assisted opening/closing by means of small gas pistons (600 - 1200 l). Pistons create a light pressure on the sealing gasket when the hood is closed and make it possible to keep the hood open. Automatic hood opening by means of an electro-pneumatic system (2300 l).
• “Full-tight” silicon gasket for perfect seal between the access hood and the test compartment (600 - 1200 l). Water-filled channel situated along the closing edge of the hood (2300 l).
By blowing compressed air into a thermo-regulated bath (humidifier) made of AISI 304 SS.
NEW saline tank:

For 2300l models the tank is included in the standard configuration while for 600 and 1200l models the tank is an accessory optimized according to the main Standards.

As below the main characteristics:

• Completely transparent to identify immediately the
level solution
• Rounded corners for easy cleaning
• Wide opening for easy filling
The salt solution is sprayed inside the test chamber through an adjustable universal nozzle made of polycarbonate, mounted on a hard plastic support. It is possible to adjust the intensity and precision of the spray by adjusting the speed of the membrane pump and the pressure of the compressed air (atomization). It is also possible to reduce the fumes inside the chamber with compressed air at the end of tests in order to discharge all residual fumes before opening the hood.

KeyKratos Plus
Control System

All the models of DCTC™ chambers are equipped with a PLC-based control system. The system allows the setting of all the necessary parameters for performing automatic and cyclical tests.
